"Yep, a self portrait. Actually,I haven't done a self portrait since
the early 70's. So,this is me standing at a local coffee shop. Do we
want to get philosophical about it? Oh, why not. In this world today,
talking to people around the world through the internet, making friends
in distant places and all the time never actually seeing the real person...
I create my paintings, put them online and I say to myself, it is the
work that really matters."

"Expresso Cafe"

"This piece could be a portrait of me walking into an expresso cafe,
(it isn't me, but could be). I do LOVE a good coffee and also enjoy
sitting in a cafe to sketch or work on my laptop, like I am sure many
of you do too."

"Red, White & Blue"

"The other day, around lunchtime, I noticed this young man who
worked in the red & white (a fast food place)standing outside
taking a break. The place seemed almost deserted except for him.
It was a painting waiting to happen. The stark red & white building,
a beautiful blue sky with one dark figure in a red hat."

"For Rent"

"Today's piece is one of many scenes I see every day on the
street near the Ohio State Campus. I am sure you have you
noticed that nearly everyone you see walking are also talking
on their cell phones. It has become such a part of everyday
life that it is almost rare to see someone without it. "

"Back Street Grill"

"There is an area near downtown that is the location of large
indoor market and many little grills and restaurants. A lot of
people who work downtown will often frequent these places at lunchtime.
This painting is on one of the back streets that has access to
one of the grills. I really like the view of color and reflections
of the city in the windows.On this day I grabbed a bite of lunch
at the market, sat outside and did a little sketching."

"As you have seen with my bicycle series, it is the shadows
that fascinate me. For some reason they stir my imagination;
becoming something of their own.
With the Spring here and summer around the bend, it is certainly
the time to see bikes waiting for their masters to return.
