Here Birdie, Birdie

"Here Birdie, Birdie"
oil on 1.5" deep canvas - 9"x12"
Retro Vintage Still Life Series

The bird and the cat.
Thinking about some of my family today, so I added a parakeet.
Why? Well, my grandma had a little blue parakeet for years
that she taught to talk. It would ask her" Whatcha doin'
Vernie?, Whatcha cookin?, Love ya Vernie and some other things.
That bird was her treasure.

Xmas Wee Willie Winkie

"Wee Willie Winkie on Xmas Eve"
oil on canvas - 6"x8"
animal art

My version of Wee Willie Winkie with his Teddy on Xmas eve.

Did you know the origin of the Wee Willie Winkie?
The explanation of the words to Wee Willie Winkie was to teach children to associate every day tasks with their own lives. Before the days of the wireless, television and the Internet great reliance was put upon the Town Crier to pass on the latest news and information. 'Wee Willie Winkie' was the children's version of the Town Crier! The author of the poem was William Miller (1810 - 1872) and the first publication date of the words to Wee Willie Winkie was in 1841.

I met Bonnie and her master walking on a street in my neighborhood.
I stopped to ask about her and see if he would allow her to pose a bit
for me. He was so proud of Bonnie. He just beamed as he lovingly held
her in his arms.
